On Sunday 7th November, two staff members of the Student Support Centre’s head office will embark on a week’s trip to Nalitabari in northern Bangladesh. They will be accompanied by representatives from the company’s chosen charity, World Vision, and will visit the Nalitabari Education Project which has received significant donations from The Student Support Centre.

Marketing Manager, Sarah and Operations Manager, Darren of The Student Support Centre along with video production company Vivid will spend the week visiting the area and capturing footage of the work World Vision has done in the local community.

Nalitabari is in a remote northern province of Bangladesh where the vast majority of the community are farmers. Child sponsorship has existed in the region since the mid-80s, however many children still don’t regularly attend school. As part of The Student Support Centre’s social responsibility mandate, the company is dedicated to helping improve the lives of children who are living in desperate poverty.

Marketing Manager at The Student Support Centre, Sarah said: “This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The trip will allow the company to see where its donations have been spent and also allow us to assess where we can further develop the education project over the next twelve months. The Student Support Centre is dedicated to making a lasting difference and improving educational opportunities for children both in the UK and in less fortunate areas. We’re both extremely excited to see the differences the company donations have made.”

Sarah and Darren will be writing regular personal diary blogs and uploading images and video footage during the trip. To watch and read the journey unfold, visit: The Student Support Centre's World Vision blog

About The Student Support Centre:

The Student Support Centre opened its doors in 1991 and has since become the largest provider of home-based tuition programmes with 9 regional offices across the UK.

Our ‘simply’ programmes provide home-based tuition and support for children aged between 4 and 17 and may be a more cost effective alternative to private tutors for maths tuition, English tuition and reading tuition. They have been designed to mirror the way in which children are taught in schools based on the National Curriculum requirements and use the teaching methods currently recommended for use in schools.

About World Vision:

World Vision is dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice in nearly 100 countries worldwide.
