Top five books to read

Thanks to everyone who sent in their contributions for this issue's Your Turn to Teach!

We received some very interesting facts and figures about a whole array of different subjects.

As always, however, there can only be one winner and that is Leshanth, aged 10 from Midlands for his article on the top five books that he thinks people should read! We hope you enjoy your WHSmith voucher Leshanth!

Leshanth's top five books to read

Hi! My name is Leshanth and I’m going to tell you all about the books that you must read!


Book 1 - Broken Glass by Sally Grindley

The author of this magnificent book is Sally Grindley. Some of you may have already read this book if you’re in Year 6!

The book is all about two boys who have run away from their village because of their dad! Their names are Sandeep and Suresh.

The story is set in India! After Sandeep and Suresh have runaway from home they try to find themselves a job, but while they’re looking Sandeep gets into big trouble with another boy! You will have to read the book to find out how the story ends.

Book 2 – Sparks by Ally Kennen

SPARKS is a dark, funny and moving story from a very popular, original and award-winning children's writer, Ally Kennan.

Ally Kennan is the acclaimed author of teen novels BEAST, BERSERK and BEDLAM. SPARKS is her first book for readers age 9 and over.

This book is a marvellous book to read as it’s about Carla and her siblings who set out to make their Grandpa’s last wish come true! One of the siblings gets into an enormous amount of trouble as she breaks a promise she made to her parents and then finds the police on her tail!

Book 3 – No Such Thing as Dragons by Philip Reeve
 
This book is about Ansel and Brock who go on an adventure to fight dragons. They actually have no experience of how to fight dragons!

It’s a dragon story with an exciting twist!

This story is written by the multi award-winning children’s author, Philip Reeve.

Book 4 – The Secret Seven by Enid Blyton

This book is all about seven children who overhear a secret and It’s their first adventure together dressed in disguise.

They follow a lead to a spooky old house in the snow and so their adventure begins!

Book 5 – Train Your Brain to be a Genius by Dorling Kindersley

This really is a marvellous book! It tells you what your personality type is and it has brain-boggling puzzles, games and optical illusions to improve your brain skills!

This book will help you become a genius!
