National Story Telling Week

From the 28th of January to the 4th of February 2012 it is National Story Telling Week. This is a week to celebrate great storytellers like Jacqueline Wilson. There are likely to be many, fun story-telling events around the country. Ask at your local library, or click here for the Society for Storytelling to find out what’s going on in your area.

If you’re lucky enough to hear a good storyteller during National Story Telling Week, you’ll know that storytelling takes practice. A good storyteller knows a story very well before he or she reads it out loud.

The Read Out Loud Challenge

Jacqueline Wilson’s books are perfect for reading out loud, as they have funny characters and exciting stories. Why not take our ‘Read Out Loud Challenge’ and perhaps read a chapter from a book to your friends or family? If you want to, you could practise reading in front of a mirror before you read out loud to others. That way you can make sure that your storytelling is lively enough.
