Jacqueline’s Book Bonanza
Jacqueline was born in Bath and brought up in Kingston-upon-Thames. It was in Kingston-upon-Thames that she wrote her first stories whilst still at school. Since then, she’s written around 100 books. That’s a lot of stories!
Although most of Jacqueline’s books are for primary school children, she’s also written for teenagers and children just starting to read.
For Infant School Children
The Dinosaur’s Packed Lunch and The Monster Story-teller are fun adventure tales aimed at 5-7 year olds.
For Junior School Children
Lily Alone by Jacqueline Wilson
You’ve probably read Tracey Beaker already, or seen the TV show, but have you read Hetty Feather? It’s one of Jacqueline’s latest books and is about a girl who lived in Victorian times and was given up as a baby. Also, look out for Jacqueline’s brand new book, The Worst Thing about My Sister, which will be on sale from March 2012.
For Secondary School Teens
Jacqueline has written nine books for teenagers. One of them, My Secret Diary: Dating, Dancing, Dreams and Dilemmas, is about Jacqueline’s own life and a great fun read. It even has pages from Jacqueline’s secret diary.
Jacqueline’s latest teen read, My Sister Jodie is a story about two sisters who have to spend the summer at boarding school. It’s exciting and sometimes sad, and teenagers are said to love it.
Illustration Crazy
Jacqueline Wilson’s books are full of crazy illustrations of her beloved characters. Jacqueline’s illustrations are drawn by a man named Nick Sharratt who draws almost all of the pictures in Jacqueline’s books.
Can you draw an illustration of a friend at school or someone in your family? All you need is a felt-tip pen and a piece of paper. Draw an oval for the face, dots for the eyes and scribbles for hair. Easy!
