Summer half term is fast approaching and the break will be a great opportunity for the family to spend some quality time together. National Family Week (31st May – 6th June) is the UK’s biggest celebration of families and encourages families to spend time eating, reading, playing, exploring and getting active together over the holidays.
The week also celebrates how each family is different and aims to bring families together through fun events. Thousands of these events will be happening all over the UK, with exciting activities such as Family Week Picnic on the 31st of May happening at various locations around the country. Other events include Family Week Sports Day, Family Week Film Day and Family Week Story Time, all of which have been designed to encourage families to have fun together. Last year National Family Week staged over 4, 000 events across the UK, and this year there’s even at attempt to make history with the Largest Simultaneous Three-Legged Race on Family Week Sports Day (Saturday 5th June). With all these events planned, there’s sure to be something to please every member of the family!
The Student Support Centre, providers of the leading home-based tuition ‘simply’programmes, assists families in maths, English and reading whilst also recognising the importance of spending quality time together too. The ‘simply’ programmes can be fitted easily around family life, leaving plenty of time to enjoy other activities. This year’s National Family Week will provide plenty of opportunities to do this. With the average family spending just 45 minutes a day together according to a poll commissioned by National Family Week last year, it’s now more important than ever to do fun things together.
