Home-based tuition provider sends bloggers to Bangladesh
5th November 2010
Next week two members of staff from The Student Support Centre, UK’s largest home tuition provider, will head off on a week’s visit to Nalitabari in northern Bangladesh. During the week, they will visit a number of projects which have benefited from donations from the company. They will also use the visit as an opportunity to see where further donations are needed.
The Student Support Centre’s staff members will be accompanied by representatives from the company’s chosen charity, World Vision, and video production company Vivid who will be capturing footage of the work World Vision has done in the local Nalitabari community.
The team has a gruelling agenda for the week, visiting different projects and speaking to community leaders, families and local teachers. But it’s not all hard work and no play. Darren, UK Operations Manager at The Student Support Centre, is planning on using his football expertise to coach the children of Nalitabari. As dedicated Chairman of Outwoods Football Club as well as an FA qualified coach, Darren hopes to run coaching sessions during his trip and will also be donating kits for the children to use.
Marketing Manager at The Student Support Centre, Sarah, said: “We’re really excited about our trip next week and visiting the people in the Nalitabari communities. It’ll be a tough week both physically and emotionally but I also believe it’ll be a very rewarding one when we see first-hand the work that’s being done to improve people’s lives.”
Nalitabari is in a remote northern province of Bangladesh where the vast majority of the community are farmers. Child sponsorship has existed in the region since the mid-80s, however many children still don’t regularly attend school. As part of The Student Support Centre’s social responsibility mandate, the company is dedicated to helping improve the lives and education (including home-tuition) of children who are living in desperate poverty.
Sarah and Darren will be writing regular personal diary blogs and uploading images and video footage during the trip. To watch and read about the journey as it unfolds, visit The Student Support Centre's World Vision blog.
