Welcome to my Blog!
Hi. I'm Mark and I joined the World Vision team in February 2010 after spending many years working in my spare time on child poverty relief projects in Eastern Europe.
I remember the first time I visited a soup kitchen in Russia and was deeply moved by the depths of poverty etched into the faces of the elderly there. Then there was a time when I was a courier to transport £25,000.00 in cash to a project in Eastern Europe! We had to be sure that the money was physically placed into the hands of the team there rather than go through an expensive bank transfer. Any guesses where I hid the money during the journey????
I have been so inspired by working with needy children that I have left the corporate environment this year to focus on furthering the work here at World Vision; so be warned getting involved with development work can totally transform your career and lifestyle!
I have been really encouraged by the inspirational team at The Student Support Centre! All the offices throughout the UK have been amazing in their fundraising efforts! With so much enthusiasm I am sure great things are coming to transform lives of the Worlds poorest children!

- Education is key to effective developmentAs I leave the wonderful country of Bangladesh my thoughts are really with
the children here. Mitu is 13 years old and has a ruffled voice due to the constant air pollution. When I asked her about her dreams for the future, she said: "I have no future".3rd December 2010

- Check your labels!Wow, we are finally here in Bangla! After travelling all Sunday night and
most of Monday!
As we travelled though the impoverished capital city (called Dhaka) we were
approached by many children who were obviously in great need of help.10th November 2010
